Hate being a renter? try being the landlord. Utility costs rise, building maintenance gets more expensive both materials and labor. Insurance rates are through the roof and the roof needs to be replaced. The lead and copper pipes need to be replaced to bring the building up to code and the city inspectors are due to do a roof to basement walk through.

Try looking for a new place. You need a stellar credit rating, several references, jump through all kinds of hoops, and still don’t get the place.

A few strips about what a landlord finds happening in his buildings would be fun. There was a TV series about an apartment eviction specialist.
