Most appropriate.Love the Algonquin Hotel with its resident cat. Hamlet VIII has two specially designed cat houses, one at the end of the registration counter. Spent a Christmas there, ate at the Round Table and delighted to see Matilda(at the time) hiding in the Christmas tree with only her tail visibly flipping back and forth.
I highly recommend The Ten Year Lunch, a documentary about the Round Table with a focus on Dorothy Parker, everyone’s favorite “Constant Reader,” possibly the wittiest woman of letters in American literature. She would “droll over” more often under the table than on it! Thanks, Michael. You’ve got a sharp eye for the great ones! Too bad we missed Don Marquis on July 29. Parker’s been one of my favorites ever since I learned when and how to make a cutting remark that slices to the marrow (though never in the same league as D.P.!). I’m a lot more gentle these days! Happy Birthday, D.P., wherever you are!!!
