What a difference 50 years makes … that strip would never fly with today’s woke crowd. In fact, I’m surprised the site censors allowed it to be published.
I grew up in the country, but when I was a kid we went to a large department store in Ft. Worth. Like any kid, when I saw a water fountain, I wanted a drink. My aunt almost had a heart attack when I started for the one marked “Colored.” I didn’t really understand why. Kids don’t really pay attention to that sort of stuff, unless they are taught it. This would have been more accurate in the late ‘50s and early ’60s, not 1972. Now, here, we don’t recycle glass, only plastic, and color doesn’t matter.
This whole “woke” thing is about the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time! Where do people come up with this crap? As far as the “site censors,” they just run them like they ran in the ’70s, or whatever year the original was done.
So today the BLMers would balk, not at the sentiment, but use of the word colored which was of course a respectful one. While on the other hand they would demand separate facilities themselves.
These days, if you’re not considered racist enough you get called “woke,” which is apparently supposed to be an insult — at least, the racists think it’s an insult.

Thanks for your comments, I didn’t get it at first. You know, in Europe we didn’t have this issues until the woke tide reached our coasts.
