Reminds me of a scene near the end of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” where the leaders of the collapsing American government are begging the hero to take over as dictator, promising to do anything he says. He tells them to start by eliminating the income tax and they shrink in horror. “We could never do that!!”
