Adult Incontinence is something that can strike Rodney at any time. If he had a good agent, he could make a lot of money endorsing Depends underwear.

What does the cleaner mean “it WAS on the inside”. I thought he said he couldn’t get the stain out.

That’s not Rodney’s armor. It is too big. Cleaners usually shrink things so it should be too small.

“Was” (in Panels 1 and 3) evidently refers to the time of discovery and attempted removal. It doesn’t imply that the stain no longer exists in contradiction to the clerk’s statement.

There’s probably a linguistic term for this quirk, but I can’t think of it… in any case, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard people talk this way.

Rodney’s courage often fails him- so why should his bladder be any stronger?

Did he or didn’t he? Depends.

long wind warning: don’t read if you don’t have patience:

Actually - (ok, this comes from vague memories of a wikipedia article or somesuch - maybe a website on history’s worst jobs, so take it for what it’s worth…) -

in days of old when knights were bold…

they were bolted into their armor (quick-release closures that would be secure in battle hadn’t been invented). getting out of a suit of armor was a long process requiring outside help and tools. even if the knight was someplace safe, his weapon-carrier was often not able to unseal him in time for a bathroom break.

and guess who had the fun job of getting the armor clean enough to be used again - which is part of why “weapon-carrier” made it onto the all-time list of lousy jobs (of course, being unarmored someplace where armored men were shooting at each other was no picnic, either…)

Admiral Nelson was on deck when the lookout called down, “Admiral, sir! I see four froggy French frigates off the port bow!”

The admiral ordered signals be sent to his escort to give pursuit, then said to his first mate, “Have the quartermaster fetch my scarlet topcoat.”

The first mate said, “But sir, won’t that make you an easier target?”

“Yes, but if I am wounded, the blood will not show against the fabric and the men’s morale will not waver.”

The mate turned to go when the lookout called down again, “Admiral, sir! I see forty-four froggy French frigates off the port bow!”

The admiral said to his mate, “Have the quartermaster also fetch my brown corduroy trousers.”
