I’m sure it’s more that the enemy doubles over and dies laughing the moment he sees you in those ridiculous horns, Sir Rodney.

You guys are so good. All I got was the image of Rodney leaving his new hat on his chair at a restaurant (say, while he went to the loo) and someone trying to sit in his seat.

The comments are funnier than the comic strip today.

In reality, Vikings NEVER had horns on their helmets. That was an invention of opera costumers. The Norsemen, when they “went-a-viking” used plain utilitarian helmets, chain mail shirts and the and the occasional left over roman armor they had liberated from others. http://www.hurstwic.org/history/articles/manufacturing/text/arms.htm

What comes to my mind is the Looney Toons cartoon with Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd–“Oh Bwoonhilda! You’re so wovewy!…” “Yes, I know it. I can’t help it.”

I don’t think it will strike fear in that jealous bull who has another horned helmet!

As far as I can tell, only Hagar and most of his family wears horned helmets (the daughter wears a winged one, opera-Valkyrie style). Lucky Eddie basically wears an inverted funnel. Everyone else wears run-of-the-mill helmets. The June 7 strip of Hagar the Horrible isn’t the best possible illustration of the last point, but it will serve.
