65 here today. We’re not having any kind of winter at all here in the West. Good for the wildlife though.

Frozen body parts aren’t funny, to the people who have frozen body parts.

-6 ℉ when I got up this morning, but it’s sunny and not windy. We’ll take what we can get.

Back when I lived in Iowa, I once saw someone carrying a very small but fully decorated Christmas tree from a gift shop. It was such a cold days that he froze his decorations off. The little round ones.

Apparently his muffler fell off in the same panel, unnoticed…No one ever says, “I froze my scarf off”.

“It was so cold that…”.We had to stop eating with metal cutlery. Some people walked around for days with spoons or forks stuck to their tongues!.The squirrels in the park were throwing themselves at an electric fence!.Words froze in the air. If you wanted to hear what someone said, you had to grab a handful of sentences and take them in by the fire!.Playboy magazine stopped publishing because no women would take their clothes off.

-6℉ three hours ago. 18℉ now. Blue sky and the PV solar is running the cold climate heat pump for 74 ℉. I can’t ask for more then that.

The “Brass Monkey” expression is a nautical expression that originated during the days when cannon balls were stored on brass racks called monkeys. The racks were made of brass to prevent sparks from retting of the powder in the cannon balls. Sometimes at sea, the spray would cause the cannon balls to freeze to the rack, thus the expression, “Cold enough to freeze the balls on a brass monkey.”
