Just get him a gym membership and make sure he does resistance training, cardio, and reduces the portion sizes of his meals. He’ll be fine.

After a truck wreck once, I was briefly in physical therapy. The PT lady handed me a long list of excercises and how to do them. Me, “I don’t have time to do this.”PTL, “Instead of watching TV when you get home from work, do the excercises.”Me, “I don’t have time to do this because when I get home from work, I’m roofing a house.”

Exercise is wonderful for building muscle and stamina, and if you succeed in building muscle, you burn more calories. But is actually a terrible way to lose weight. (And in fact you have to gain weight to build muscle.) Burning calories also accelerates aging. You are MUCH better off not consuming calories you don’t need.

To lose weight (and muscle – but muscle loss is minimized by exercise) you simply have to eat less. Or better food.

Eat less by creating a food curfew. Make sure you are fasting a minimum of 12 hours every day. If you break fast at 7am, do not eat after 7pm. The longer the daily fast, the faster you lose weight. Dial back the curfew to 5pm. It is a lot easier to fast while asleep!

Most raw fruits and veggies are free – you won’t gain weight eating lots of them. Instead of pigging out on cheetos, pig out on fresh berries. Instead of a milkshake, make a smoothie with blended fresh and frozen fruit. Celery smooth and silky when blended.

Yeah, not only will his lungs and heart appreciate it; but he’ll also take off some of that blubber around his middle right there! IF he does it at least every other day!
