umm i think there was a movie in the 1970s (or was it 1980s? can’t remember), just about the same idea – now I wanna watch that again !

That is what zinc does for you. At the first sign of a cold take a zinc tablet then another in four hours and another four hours later. The zinc stops the virus from replicating and taking over your body giving your immune system the time to kill off the ones that entered your body. ZAP!

Can he do that to cancer?

Fantastic Voyage was a reasonably ok movie that provided an hour and a half or so of entertainment and an evening out.

……and looks like he was having fun!!!!

New thing I learned today: according to Wikipedia, Isaac Asimov’s novel Fantastic Voyage was based on the screenplay for the 20th Century Fox movie version. Because Asimov finished the book before Fox finished the movie, many people mistakenly believe the movie is based on the book. In fact, it’s the other way around.

What makes Asimov’s book interesting is that the Good Doctor just had to figure out how to make the “science” part of the story plausible (aside from the miniaturization itself, of course—though Asimov at least creates some reasonable pseudo-scientific babble). And so, among other things, he figures out how to get the remains of the submarine out of the patient before it expands back to normal size, and how to miniaturize the air the crew gets when they visit the lungs. Things like this made the book pretty decent SF, while the movie remains just kinda dumb and a good target for parody by Mad and The Simpsons.

Nanotechnology wizarding! I love it. What was the name of the movie where a spaceship goes into the bloodstream? They got out through a tear duct, I think.

Unfortunately what the Wiz destroyed were bacteriophages (literally “eats bacteria”), not cold viruses. After all of that, Rodney still has a cold!

I could use one of those wizards.

Given Rodney’s nose, the Wiz probably could have just strolled out.
