Eggs and meat are flavored by what the critters ate. If the hen was really free range – that is, turned loose outdoors to eat bugs – the eggs have a lot more flavor. But I’d have to be a lot richer than I am to think that flavor was worth $29.
If it just means that they ate corn in an open-air cage, the eggs won’t be any better than from hens in tiny cages on a conveyor belt in a factory, but you can console yourself that the hens were happier.
