Way back in the day I was about 16 or 17 I bought my first PC. My dear ol Father God rest his soul wanted to learn to use it, He sat down and picked up the mouse like a channel changer and pointed it at the monitor and clicked three times looked at me and said. “Son this damned thing is broken.” I think that was the last time he tried to use a PC. He was great with tools and he was a genius at carpentry and lay out work but technology escaped him.

You have to love Rita’s expressions in panels 2 and 3. Blind, unfettered incomprehension.

At our house it’s the ongoing confusion between how Macs and PC’s do things. Chris has an HP laptop, and I can never get the hang of the tracking pad. Always have to ask her how to navigate. I’ve been using Macs for years, and feel completely at home- until I open a new app or software I haven’t learned!

I’m 66. My kids come to me to fix their PCs. The stereotypes don’t always work.

I got my dad his first pc at age 75. He is 92 and does things with CAD you wouldn’t believe. He designs radio controlled model airplanes and prints out full sized plans. He amazes me.

A few years ago, in a medical office, a new nurse was learning the scheduling software. She drew a little picture of the mouse with an arrow that said “click here twice.” We had to convince her that writing her password on a sticky note on the monitor was NOT a good idea.
