Oh yeah, I know the feeling yet somehow the old crossbar hotel didn’t collapse while I was gone so I must NOT be quite as indispensable as I’d like to think sometimes ….LOL!!!Knew the name Zakour was slightly familiar – I have his 1st 3 books. Too often when I get to like an author I find out that they’ve died years ago and what I’m reading has been held back by the heir(s) and/or the publisher. Good books actually.!
Interesting expression on Rita’s face. Is she sad because she never gets the kind of welcome Dana gets? Is she sad because, for once, she realizes she’d be nowhere without Dana? IS she sad because she herself (Rita) will have to also start working again? I think there’s a lot of ways to interpret that.
First the hugs then the ‘can you fix…..’ Rita misses Dana – she just can’t do the mob scene. Well, not while everyone else is there. Besides, she has her own overlong list for Dana.and the first on the list is how does she get rid of all the temps?

I’ve seen Mary Sue characters before; Dana is definitely NOT one of them!

That’s quite the welcome. I’ll bet everyone is so happy to see her because she’s a buffer between them and Rita. Poor, clueless Rita.

The only time I got a welcome back was when my supervisor had to do my work load; he vowed he will no longer approve a 2 week vacation for me.

Poor Rita. She wanted to be the first to welcome Dana back.

Looks to me as though Rita realizes how much everyone adores Dana instead of herself.
