I think he means “scare” …or “terrify”but “scarify” might apply too…As in, if he shows up in a “sexy” costume, some people would be scarred for life.

And don’t forget to wear you dwarf costume; they would never believe it is the real you.

Is “scare” too small a word? Why “scarify?”

I almost feel sorry for the guy. I don’t believe this is the case, but in an effort to emphasize his portly frame, and the angle at which he’s drawn, it looks as if he has curvature of the spine. It would be interesting to see what a slimmed down Melvin would look like. Probably be scarifying still, just less so.

It actually has a dictionary definition that has more to do with making marks by scratching. But it is also used in this slang sense.

@Observer fo Irony “And don’t forget to wear you dwarf costume; "Agree – always thought he was a dwarf from the Hobbit movies, trying to make it the modern world.

@Try a different word: “scarify” means to make small surgical incisions, or to speak cuttingly. It is not a synonym for scare or frighten

The majority of the Dwarf names, along with Gandalf’s name, were borrowed from old Norse works such as Prose Edda. In the first draft, Gandalf was actually the name given to Thorin. The wizard was named Baldorthin. William Morris, well prior to Tolkien, had used the name Gandalf in his novel “The Well At World’s End.”
