I’ve sometimes thought I’m the main character in a TV series that ws cancelled years ago.

Every extra is the main character in at least their own story. It’s just that nobody is watching.

Today’s strip reminds me of John Scalzi’s “Redshirts” (a hilarious book, btw) and the Star Trek: TNG episode, “Lower Decks”.

Love this perspective, guys! ….@cdward, you expressed my thought, as well. You can’t be an extra in your own story.

I’ve even thought this when I worked in similar environments. There are departments I don;t interact with. They’re another little reality from mine, and we’re each the center from own perspective.

Speaking as a guy who has created a couple of reality shows it’s no big deal. :)

This reminds me of the novel “Redshirts”.

Guy behind the counter at the liquor store. Yep, I’m an extra in lots of peoples’ stories. Same when I drove taxi. My grand finale in crime scene photos sounds better than lingering painfully.

There was a great episode of “The Amazing Adventures of Gumball” on the same subject.

Most people are stars in their own story, but…just give the night sky a good look. Who has time for that many tales?

Scott, have you and John been watching a little too much Antiques Roadshow on PBS lately? The guy in the yellow shirt and blue tie is a dead ringer for Noel Barrett, the one who appraises toys!

As soon as you put a camera on people and tell them you are filming it is no longer reality.
