I get almost no 4G signal at home, so I set my cell phone on airplane mode, to save the battery, and use it over Wi-Fi.

When I go out, I often forget to change all that till I want to call or text somebody…

and discover I’ve automatically logged in to “Target Free Internet” or some such.

But when I go into Costco, where they don’t have free Wi-Fi…..

the phone automatically connects to “LG Smart Refrigerator.”

I can’t seem to communicate with it… or text, make a call or get on the internet….

so I asked someone, who told me I needed a passcode.

But now I want to go look at the fridge, just to see whether it’s like this one.

BTW…. she also said every one they get in logs into that signal… they’re only private because of the codes.

Hope that doesn’t mean your neighbor could track your beer supplies, or know when to show up to mooch lasagna.

Of course, I suppose it’s the same with your cell provider…

it’s only a password that keeps your phone private too.

Is that an attempt to stop people from opening the fridge for snacks?

Saw a joke about a similar refrigerator, except someone had logged it onto an adult website while it was on store display…

If you and the manufacturer aren’t careful with security on a IoT fridge like that, it’ll end up joining a botnet. Internet of Things will destroy the internet as we know it.

This combines the two things Roy knows best: technology and food.
