So much in this cartoon! The first part of Rita’s answer is touching, especially about her daughters. The second half is somewhat unrelated and more vintage Rita.
I may be the only one, but I like her 80s hair. Those shoulder pad, though…….
As for her missing water bottle, I’m guessing (and only guessing) that this was the era of water fountains and water coolers, before water bottles everywhere became a thing?
I had a marriage like that, two kids as well, but a boy and a girl. I never wanted to rise higher than senior software engineer, which I already was. Raising my two kids after the divorce was more fun, challenging, and rewarding than software engineering, which I loved. Metaphorically, everything important I learned about life I learned from my kids. I had tried management, but leading people wasn’t, still isn’t, my best skill, and definitely not my joy.

Don’t worry, you will rise to the level of your incompetence.

A serious moment of Rita’s past. Poor thing, she looks so sad♡. She and Norm seem to be good friend here, more than now.

The first part of her answer… replace “girls” with “boys” and that is I.

Wow, Norm with hair, and Rita with LOTS of hair (we’ve seen the hairstyle in the past, of course, but I don’t remember it ever being so much)!
