I can’t decide which is my favourite version because there are so many good bits in each, but each also has some very bad points. Apart from the version with Spock’s sister, which is just plain terrible (sorry to any fans of it!) I think the original series, then Next Gen. DS9 is not on my list because I can’t stand Dax; on the other hand it has the revised Tribble episode!
If you had to chose between DS9 and Babylon 5, that would be a hard choice, but for Star Trek Roy is correct. DS9 is the best Star Trek show by far. Enterprise had a few good episodes (especially near the end, the Mirror verse episode and the storyline about Trip and T’Pol’s child were some of the best Star Trek episodes ever, but the series finale ruined everything it had gained). TNG and Picard are just bad, Voyager is good, if you like it, but you either like it or hate it (and it has a lot of weak moments), same goes for Star Trek Discovery and I am personally not a fan of TOS (it’s hard to get into today). I don’t count shows like Lower Decks and Star Trek Prodigy.
They ought to take the animated series, the ones with all the original actors’ voices, and create new, better-quality animation for them. Some of the writing on those was pretty darn good. My favorite was when Spock had to go back in time and save his own life when he was a child.
I’ll chime in with my opinion on best episodes: TOS: “The Trouble with Tribbles” (Scotty slugging a Klingon for insulting the Enterprise.) Next Gen: “Relics” (Scotty on the holodeck asking to see the bridge on HIS Enterprise.) DS9 “Trials and Tribble-ations” (Excellent special effects blending the two shows together.) Best Movie: The Voyage Home (Scotty speaking into the computer mouse and Spock neck pinching the dude with the boom box.)
Liked DS9 because Sisko didn’t need a moving ship to be a b***ss, plus he met Kirk and didn’t get him killed, unlike a certain starship captain I could mention.
TV science fiction mostly isn’t any good. “The Expanse” is an exception. I read my first science fiction in 1953 so I have some experience. “Tom Corbett, Space Cadet” and “Captain Midnight” weren’t much worse than today’s TV SF.
it took 4 years before TNG hit its stride for the rest of the show, thoughDS9 was better overall. Though Voyager was really good after 3 years onward. Enterprise violated so much of the early history of Trek it was frustrating since the Terran-Romulan war happened before warp ships.

I watched the original series every week as long as it was on, but I could never get into any of the spinoffs.

DS9 is about a guy who runs a gas station in space. I prefer TNG.

Discovery.
But I’m looking forward to the new Pike series.

This is a debate that can not be settled, much like Ginger or Mary Ann, Samatha or Jeanie, Jennifer or Bailey. “Eye Of The Beholder”

TNG. Picard is pretty good. Discovery is just kind of a mash of the worst plot ideas.

Don’t watch enough TV to have seen any of these. To me, “The Prisoner” (w/ Patrick McGoohan still was the best TV series I’ve ever seen.

@Scott… I know what you did here. You poured the gasoline, threw in a lighted match, and then walked away calmly. Nicely done, sir. Nicely done.

I like aspects of all of the ones that ran on network channels, but haven’t watched any of the ones you have to pay extra money to see.
