I got to an away supplier meeting very early, dressed like a V.P. but I was just an engineer but fairly old (seasoned). They sat me at the “power seat” on the conference table. When the young Executive Vice President of my company arrived I immediately stood up and said to the to him “Jack, your chair is here.” He smiled and sat down. After that he made it a point to chat with me almost weekly. I did not want his job but I did appreciate talking about work with him.
