I’ll say it again – there may be extreme cases where this sort of thing happens, but to paint it as the norm is ridiculous. I am completely behind the anti-bullying efforts, by the way, but this is silly.
Even worse, over at Lio they’re showing a child endangered by an art project! While accidents with school projects can happen, showing an extreme case happening in a comic strip is just laughable. Very laughable.
It’s just ridiculous for people to comment on a comic strip, which by it’s nature ridicules, as if this were a real story and real actions by real people.
Kids really shouldn’t be using “that’s gay” to mean “that’s bad” or “that sucks”, because it implies being gay is bad. Why didn’t the teacher explain this to Zack, instead of just saying “We don’t use that word” as if the word “gay” is bad. What if a classmate actually was gay and said so—would they say he/she shouldn’t use the word? This is just silly, and I wonder if such a thing actually happens that much in real life or if the cartoonists are just using a ridiculous situation to point out how political correctness can go too far.
