My niece has a cat which lost her left rear leg almost to the hip. She leans to the left and the stump just wiggles like the dickens as she tries to scratch behind her left ear. Soon she stops and runs to one of us and does it in front of us, because she knows we’ll have pity and scratch behind her ear for her.

Which reminds me, how does a dog (or any quadruped) scratch its itch if a rear leg is amputated or is in one of those wheelchairs?
