I bet this conversation also happened in the 1860s.

We have one. Problem is that about 1/3 of the country hasn’t figured that out yet, decreasing all the time, but still around 1/3.

People on both sides need to realize that people on both sides have good ideas and both have bad ideas.

Just because it is legalized, acceptable to 2/3rds of the population and ingrained culturally into the fabric of society; does not make it moral nor permissible by biblical standards. This nation is divided because we have legalized sin and all of its sinful behaviors…from marijuana to pre-marital sex, to abortion to banning public prayer and Bible readings. Until we as a nation repent of our corporate sin and return to the One who wrote the original playbook there will never be peace among us nor harmony in our thoughts and actions.

Hey, people, we do have a common enemy. Each other.

There was a sci-fi story about someone inventing fake aliens ready to strike. The common enemy kept the countries from war.

More divided than ever: diversity is our strength, say the far left dividers.

I’ll give you my personal list of wag-the-dog scenarios which you might see come 2020, when the admin needs a rally-round-the-flag moment to secure re-election.

    1. Venezuela. They have border problems with their neighbors (who also happen to be our allies), and they have oil – lots of oil. They’re socialist (boo!) but they have a very active opposition who could assist us on the ground. They would also be the kind of pushover country with a weak military and an unpopular govt. that almost nobody would object to invading. An easy win, with potential for great optics (i.e. military parades) right before the big vote. Look for this one May-Aug. 2020, leaving enough time to pacify and stabilize the country by November.

    2. Iran. This would probably not be a full-scale invasion, since that would likely be very costly and long. But a bombing campaign isn’t out of the question – especially with the French starting to come around. All it would take is a hostile act against one of our assets in the region to give us casus belli. A nice, short air war in the Aug.-Sept. 2020 time frame which takes out their reactors and nuclear facilities could be presented as a huge win for the Prez.

    3. North Korea. This one is a long shot. With the potential for heavy casualties, a war with NK would be a huge gamble. They have backing from China, so this option carries the added risk of escalation. While their military has outdated equipment they do have numbers, and they possess nuclear weapons which could potentially be used if the regime perceives an existential threat. South Korea would probably suffer widespread devastation and could take years to recover. On the other hand, such a scenario could be a win for American manufacturing in the intermediate term if factories here ramp up production to fill the demand -which would fit in nicely with the whole MAGA theme.

There are others, but those are my top 3 guesses. My money is on Venezuela being the go-to option. /s

A common enemy to unite us? No thanks, big brother.

What we could use, as a minimum, is a leader who is on the side of our country and not holding allegiances to foreign nations.
