If you want a dog for “Show and Tell”….spend lots of money for a purebred. If you want a dog for unconditional love and affection….go to the nearest shelter and adopt!

@#466. The terrier group has more wins at Westminster than any other breed. I have had Golden and terriers both.

Reasons to adopt an adult dog:1.It either is house broken or the pound will tell you it isn’t.2.You get to feel like you’re doing something nice.3.You know how big it’s going to get.4.They have all their vet bills paid, and that can get expensive.5.You know what the vet found out as to congenital defects, diseases, etc.6.It’s way cheaper than buying a dog.7.It has an established personality. If you want Cujo, you can find him, but you won’t get stuck with him accidentally. (Shame we can’t work something out so we adopt kids after they get through with being teenagers)
