Gary Larson once asked, “if a tree falls in the forest and no one’s around, and it hits a mime, does anyone care?”

If a tree falls in the forest, find it, make lumber.

It depends on which definition of “sound” that you use:

1) “Sound is a pressure wave which is created by a vibrating object.” So, yes—it makes a sound.

2) “something that you can hear or that can be heard.” So, no—it doesn’t make a sound.

If Zack disappears while you close your eyes and speak, was he really ever there?

If you talk to yourself, do you listen?

Silly adage.. of course it makes a sound.. whether or not there is a human to hear it is immaterial. Your government just spent a zillion dollars to hear sounds on Mars.. and lo.. there is, and as far as we know.. with nary an ear to hear it.

An old man speaks and who cares……
