… “by people who might be interested in something a little ‘deeper’ than American Idol”.
Why always such hostility for PBS in Ziggy cartoons? It IS supported by viewers like you. Why would anybody dislike that?
Oh right,… the Arts are ‘bad’ .
and information? these days people prefer to write their own, after all.
PBS always shows two sides to any story. Many people find it insulting to even consider another side to an argument. They just want to hear ans see what they already agree with.
How can they pre-empt my British Sit Coms for a 14th rerun of Antique Roadshow? Yeah lady, your table would have been worth a fortune if you hadn’t used it for a butcher block. You aren’t getting my contribution this year, we have NetFlix.
Don’t have Barney go telling my kid it’s a safe and loving world out there. Want him to get mugged?
Pledge week lasts all month, lasts all year. I’m trying to listen to a concert and I hear, “Operators are standing by. If you pledge $250, we’ll send you this coffee mug from the 1989 drive.”
Several years ago PBS began trying to be a tad more balanced after they realized how much public support there was for cutting off their government funding. But it looks like they’re going to lose that battle anyway. Serves them right for firing Juan Williams.
What’s the matter, lew, You want a free concert? You some kind of Woodstock hippie freak? I thought you wanted everyone to pay for everything, no free lunch.
Not to mention shows like NOVA and The Pioneers of Television. Lots of good programming for any semi-literate person who wants to know more about history or what’s happening past the end of his/her block.
Yes that is right Ziggy! So don’t blame PBS for exposing America to the worlds of music, theater, dance and art. Not to mention its mission to create content that educates, informs and inspires us about world events and cultures. It is viewers like YOU that help support Art & Literature. Is PBS blaming you for that? I don’t think so!!
ted.hering, I don’t think it’s ‘controversial’ or anything but just the blind negativity of it… something many are tired of. Besides, this Ziggy has been done so many l times before, how funny can it be?
btw, “viewers like you” is ALWAYS followed only by; “Thank you”. -
It’s a new saying that just hasn’t seemed to have caught on yet.

You can often get real news coverage from the BBC TV or radio, if you miss it.
