Clark, being a proud resident of the Insurance Capital of the World, I say don’t buy my city’s product. What’s the difference between $2000 and $80,000? Times up! The answer is your house. But if you are the guy who likes to split 6s on the table, gamble away. As a kid driving clunkers, comprehensive and collision was a bad bet. I gambled. If your body is an old clunker and ready for the junk yard, gamble away. Of course back in the dark ages, Daddy was stuck for 32 years paying on a bad bet on my brother. Will your family spend a generation or two paying your gambling debts?

Insurance fails too many people now and will fail far more in the future unless the government forces otherwise (and sufficiently effective reforms are unlikely). It’s best if you take care of yourself so that you don’t need health care, and the best way to do that is to eat right - little or no meat (particularly red meat and/or meat from factory farms), few processed foods, limited sugar, limited high-fat dairy, and lots and lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. Fish is a healthy option too (especially if it’s wild-caught), but don’t count on it being available in a generation or so.

Insurance covers less than the gown they give you at the hospital, and it leaves your butt out in the cold.
