Not a “suggestion.” It’s been documented in past years that when Oprah mentioned on her show that she liked a book, it would climb the bestseller list. Same kind of sales spike for any other kind of product she might mention. It’s called the Oprah Effect. Of course, her influence has declined in recent years since she ended her show.
I love Ziggy! Tom must have worked at a grocery store at some point! Oprah has a HUGE impact on sales. If she gets on tv and says “I have a recipe for a yogurt smoothie” suddenly BAM within 2 days the yogurt section of the grocery store is wiped out and the dairy manager’s boss is yelling her about how she ran out of product and all she can do is shrug. Oprah says “meat is bad” and suddenly the meat manager is in trouble for having to throw away tons of rotted meat that no one bought. Oprah has a large hoard of followers. Really, go into any grocery store, go up to any manager who’s been there more than a year, and say “F*** Oprah!” and you’ll see a shine if pain in their eyes as they say it back, hear the bitterness in their voice as they say it.
As some have stated here before, there is an Oprah Effect that seems to take place whenever she endorses something. Or decries something. In the late 90sOprah faced legal action because she decried some meats, and a group of Texas farmers sued her for defamation and lost revenue. She won the case.

What is Mom’s diner supposed to have to do with Oprah?
I hope the rest of Sunday makes more sense than this.
