Zen is a school of Buddhism which deemphasizes doctrine and favors direct understanding through meditation. Tao means the path or way to the intuitive understanding of life.
Both Tao and Zen do not follow a large set of rules such as “laws” which a lawyer for example would follow. The terms “Zen” and “Tao” are used in catchy book titles where the writer doesn’t have a strict set of rules of how to “fix bicycles” but he has an intuitive understanding of how to fix bicycles which he could title “The Zen of Bicycle Repair” or “The Tao of Bicycle Repair”. Analogies to a book titled “Zen of Tao” would be “The Drilling of Drilling”, or the “The Politics of Politics”, or the “The Religion of Religion”. This is my understanding of the gag.
