I got several scam calls. One says I’m “Subject of a criminal lawsuit!” (Which is it?") and if I don’t call back, “or my attorney either, than all I can say is good luck as this matter unfolds on you!”The other puports to be the IRS, and when you call the number (which I did for fun) a woman with an Indian accent answers and says “IRS!” I told her “You expect me to believe the IRS answers its phone with a human being?”
I have received calls in the past that stated at the beginning that if I am not the person being called, I should hang up immediately because it was a private message. Then the voice continued with the rest of the message. This was on the answering machine. What a laugh. It wasn’t even for me or anyone in my house.
I used to keep getting the same call asking if I was a some long number. The number was not my SSN nor my phone number nor a credit card of mine. It then said that there was a legal action against me and if I did not respond then they would just make a summary judgment against me. I am pretty sure they have to have some evidence that they contacted me before making a summary judgment, so I never called it.
About 6 months after my wife died, I received a call from a person saying my wife had owed his client money — I don’t remember the amount. I told him that in this state that after the notice of death was published, they had 90-days to make a claim and it was well beyond that. About a month after that I got a call from the same person saying that his client had decided to pursue the claim. I gave him my attorney’s name and telephone number. Neither of us ever heard from them again.
