Better enjoy that statue for as long as it lastes Ziggy. Sometime, someone’s going to dig up some dirt on that person (however minor) and down that statue will go! ;/
I suppose the artist intended that the statue to be Ziggy, but there is one goof up. The statue appears to be wearing socks and shoes. It can’t be Ziggy.
I know this is supposed to be a commentary on what’s going on in our world. It’s sad that we no longer can we subpoena and have a dialogue. Someone once said, “I may not agree with what you say but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”
And that’s what happens when today’s society tries to judge past heros by today’s standards. Can the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, or Mount Rushmore stand much longer? Bring in Issus with their dynamite to take them out.
Everyone want to make political commentary. If everyone, including comic writers and especially the media, would just shut up we’d be in much better shape.
Come and Join me in taking down the Statue of Liberty. It represents a lie. Not everyone in America fills like they have the liberty and freedom they are entitled too.
I remember questioning my teacher’s interpretation of Shelly’s “Ozymandias”. “Look on my works ye mighty and despair”, engraved on a statue in a wasteland, is usually interpreted as ironic because whatever greatness had been there was long gone, ephemeral as life and pride. I considered an alternate interpretation: the statue represented the one who caused the devastation as a show of power.
I believe everything has it place. The statues being torn down are located on outdoor public spaces. I think they would serve a better purpose in museums or educational facilities.
Only very stupid people think some else can offend them. We all control how we react/respond to others actions and comments. When someone does/says something you don’t like, ignore them. No one can predict how someone else will react, so it’s up to the individual to decide.
No statue should ever be taken down without going through the proper channels. Individuals and groups should not ever be allowed to remove a statue, no matter who it is of. To do so is a crime and should be punished.
I’m wondering how someone has a statue who has done nothing. I suppose it might have been one someone set up for themselves. An action that results in celebration for some is likely to have a side in the equally opposite opinion. The physics plays out whether it’s for people’s opinions or rocks thrown in the air.

Doesn’t matter what the statue is. The two year olds will tear it down just because it’s a statue.

There’s always going to be something to offend someone. The important part is, not to get rid of history. That’s the only way we can learn from it.

Give it time – Someone will find something new to be offended about. He’ll fall like all of us.

Someone will tear it down anyway, because they think it’s the ‘woke’ thing to do and they won’t bother trying to learn who it’s a statue of.
