Look at it this way, Ziggy! Now you’ll have both a poultry and fish dinners!

There’s always someone else to get what you catch – so watch out.

Now you have an opportunity to do a Pelican/fish version of a Turducken.. not sure what to call it.. Pelfishin ?

In a word ’No" – easy fishing today.

The pelican’s gonna get hooked on fish.

I was at the Santa Cruz pier one day when the anchovy were running. On one side of the pier was a vast circular formation of scores on brown pelicans all flying in the same direction. They would dive like bombs into the water, scoop up anchovies and fly back into the formation. Individuals pelicans did this until they were so heavy they had trouble taking off. At which point, they would fly to the other side of the pier and land in the water with other full pelicans, belching happily. It was quite a scene that went on for hours.

I was at Sea World. We could buy small fish to feed some of the sea mammals there. The walruses were a few feet below the visitors, so to feed them, we had to drop the fish. Sea gulls made feeding the walruses unpleasant, as they would fly close, trying to catch a fish in midair, or even grabbing a fish from one of our hands.
