Elly’s question is legitimate. Why give Edgar something he can’t chew? Edgar will never play with a basketball and he can’t chew on a basketball. There is no reason to give that to Edgar.

There is a reason why they make chew toys something easy to chew and yet more difficult to destroy for teething puppies. I was in Japan a few years back and got a special chew toy for dogs and it was so well-constructed it took my son’s dog a solid 8 weeks before she destroyed it. That was a successful chew toy.

I tried that. Came home the next day to find the ball with a 3-inch hole chewed in the side and the black rubber bladder pulled out and shredded into little pieces all over the back lawn. That’s my Sasha. She also made 3 garden hoses out of one.

Just buy him a couple of chew toys—cheaper than a basketball. And also install a lock on your closet door! It’ll keep both Eddy and April out.

I had a daschund as a child. His favorite toy was a basketball. He would work a corner loose on one of the strips so he could carry it. Eventually he would chew all the strips off and we would get him a new one.

Dogs chew on things because they’re bored.

NEVER buy a real leg bone processed in China. They always contain Glycerine…which is HIGHLY toxic to dogs. It shuts down their kidneys and kills them. Read the product label. If it has glycerine. DO NOT BUY IT. Your vet can verify this.

I called my vet when I was having problems with my new puppy’s chewing ( He was a 6 month old large dog). They suggested Gorilla Chew – avalable online. They are a natural part of a tree – they are non toxic – do not make splinters- and dogs think smell interesting. I highly recommend. I have bought 3 of them so far in last 18 monthes.

The best dog-chew ever is a big marrow that’s been dipped in gravy and cook in the oven for a while.

Because the Toronto Raptors stink. Edgar would be a good addition to the team.

So you want to buy something for Edgar specifically because he’d have no use for it? If the idea is to distract him from chewing on your stuff, you’d need to give him something that will hold his interest!

My Red Golden Retriever puppy is the most destructive force of nature. But I found one toy he absolutely loves that he has never managed to destroy, and is fun for me too: the Starmark treat dispensing Chewball. it is excellent quality and comes in two sizes. Best toy ever.

Bet Farley could bite a basketball. I think they all move past his death a bit too quickly.

I had a Doberman puppy. I finally gave her a bowling ball. Anything else, she either chewed it up or flattened it (such as a basketball). She had to play with the bowling ball outside, but she loved it.

First thing my wife’s dachshund Gretchy did when given an “Indestructible Dog Ball” was chew off the word “Indestructible.”

My daughter’s Jack Russel had no problem with soccor balls or basket balls. She would race around the yard with them and flip them up in the air and sort of catch it on her nose and send it off again. Had to take it away from her or she’d run herself to death. She also managed to puncture the balls.
