I’ve had a tolerate / distain relationship with our Gov. Sununu. Tried to see him as a reasonable old school Republican. I think he wants to be somewhat moderate. But the tribal instincts and Kool-aid are just too strong. I had hoped, with his full-throated support for Haley, that he was willing to actually lead a move away from Trump, or at least had the moral courage to be his own man. Sadly, he has now just fallen in line, just like the rest of the lemmings.

Yesterday’s courtroom testimony was excessive and should have been objected to by Trump’s lawyers. However, they chose not to intervene. It ended up being the judge who made the witness move on. The Trump legal team then tried to have a mistrial declared over the same testimony they refused to stop. Sorry, you can’t have it both ways.
I don’t hate the conservative commentators on this and other sites. In fact, if we met in person over a cup of coffee, we might have a lot to agree on and enjoy a conversation. It is the anonymous nature of sites like this that lets the id run wild and divide us. All that said, I can’t see why anyone would want Trump to lead our country. Trump is morally depraved and represents the absolute worst of human nature. You may have fundamental policy differences with President Biden, but at the end of the day, he is a good man. You can’t say the same thing about Trump; there are no redeeming characteristics in that man, and he represents the absolute worst of us.
Republicans have a crucial opportunity at their convention to select a candidate who won’t cause embarrassment. The world is watching, and history will remember this decision. It’s imperative that they choose wisely, for the sake of the party and the country.

The only positive for the nation after Trump wins in November (as history tells us he will) is at least the House will have a Democrat majority as a buffer, but the judiciary will be even more extreme far right by 2028 as the Senate goes to 50/50.
Omitting the Watergate incident, we had a reasonable functional, reasonably respectable Republican party until Cheney and Rumsfield hit on the gold mine of incompetence represented by the Busch family and mined it to mess up the country. I didn’t agree with a lot of conservative ideas, but they had some validity and I could buy some of them and understand why some people bought all of them. For the most part they were based on fact, not on Rush Limbaugh and Faux news.
I would welcome a conservative party that could actually compete with the liberals without lying. I don’t totally agree with a lot of liberal ideas- Actually, I am a Democrat by default, since there has never been another choice that research showed wasn’t lying to me. I would be interested in hearing the views of an HONEST conservative party.
I wonder if there are enough Republicans left with the dignity and integrity to form a real conservative party to run against the one that is controlled by a criminal who has no actual commitment to any ideals other than his own benefit.
