Sorry Lisa, gentrification is making cities like Portland, Seattle and San Francisco more desirable and they are growing both in population and wealth.
Hate to tell you Lisa, none of the stuff in your cartoon about people and businesses fleeing the city is happening. Even in the cities with the most violent protests, it’s been confined to a couple of blocks at the most.
Because white-collar jobs can be done remotely, cities, where people live close together for maximal economic opportunity, are now rather obsolete for the white-collar jobs they used to house. Perhaps cities would see a working-class resurgence if blue-collar jobs, such as manufacturing, were to make a comeback in the US, but this is also unlikely.
Facts would be helpful here, even though Ms Benson is determined not to take them into account. Some big cities — San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Houston — have increasing population. Others have declining populations. A key factor appears to transportation infrastructure. There’s no real correlation with partisan leadership of people facial demographics. But if Lisa Benson still wants to be a Trumpublican spokesharlot rather than a journalist, there’s no stopping her.
Lisa heard that her mentors at State TV, like Tucker C and Sean H have their own secure retreats and thinks everyone does.. Those that can.. do.. but most folk don’t have the luxury of leaving
Its amazing that in an election year… the ONLY thing the republicans are running on is “look how bad thing are in the inner city” … acting like 1. inner cities are not part of the country – 2. things haven’t been bad in inner cities for decades now no matter who the leadership is – 3. Republicans care in the least about the inner cities – 4. Trump hasn’t been actively working to keep funding from those cities and -5. The sad state of the country is any better. … You want the riots to stop? Tell Don the Con to stop sending in his goons to incite them… You want protests to stop? a good place to start would be getting rid of the racist buffoon in the white house. … Make no mistake, this turmoil has been manufactured by Don the Con … and is the oldest trick in the election playbook.
Republican spread covid with its attendant unemployment and racism, their encourage of police violence, their complete lack of support for the mom and pop stores, tax breaks for the rich, plus their hatred of health care and education is making life untenable for the average person.
The Trump administration has been leaving Washington, D.C. and moving into gated communities like Federal Prisons for years now. That’s a trend Lisa missed.
Irony alert, Lisa is responding to all the WaPo and NYT articles of fat cat families fleeing to the Hamptons because of Covid. Hardly a representative sample of urban populations, and that flight is happening because of a crisis her favorite cult leader is responsible for making worse by orders of magnitude, and not due to gangs of Antifa thugs coming in by the plane load.

This is just ridiculous! Big cities – especially those run by Democrats – are the safest places in the country!
