The Boondocks by Aaron McGruder for May 15, 2024
Transcript:
Caesar: You religious? Huey: Not really. So many people think about their religion only once a week. They don't practice what they preach. I prefer to follow my own moral code instead of living as a hypocrite. Caesar: Ah yes, the church of self-righteousness... Huey: Shut up.
I was with him up to the “my own moral code”. You don’t need to invent a morality. For many prominent Christians (probably other religions as well) what they say their God intends passes through their own personal filter of what they want, and their attitude towards others. Like the televangelists who say God wants them to have a mansion, boat, jet, etc.
