The doctors cratered Hillary’s attempt at healthcare reform and they’d be happy to do the same to Obama’s.

It’s fear of change, even though doctors are currently at the mercy of the insurance system.

I hope Obama wins so my dentist’s office can have 4 more years of being miserable watching FoxNews and complaining about evil Barack and Michelle. My dentist deserves it, for forcing their patients to watch FoxNews unless they request a channel change on the TV in each individual operatory room.

Hate to bust your Ayn Rand loving bubble, bud, but when and if Mitt gets elected, the Republicans will come up with a health care plan which you will hate. The big corporations are tired of offering health care benefits, and they want the government to take over. They run the country, and they will get what they want. The real question is whether the Democrats or Republicans get the credit for the change and which special interests get which special little perks.

Studies from what is called EBM or evidence-based medicine now suggest that Joanie Redfern should undergo the care of a physiatrist or a licensed physical therapist. Patients recovering from hip replacement need hip-replacement therapy. Such as, say, a recumbent bicycle and other machines for upper body exercises. The WORST thing she could do as she recovers would be to lie in a bed with NO EXERCISE at all. Ideally she should be visiting a gym every day under the care of a licensed physical therapist.

I am so glad to hear that so many folks seem to be able to so quickly recover on this thread. My mom had heart surgery a few years ago and she was intubated for several days after that. She was not going anywhere with that tube down her throat. She was not happy about it, but she was stuck. She needed to be where she was for a few days after the surgery and I am glad that we were able to keep her there. They did make sure that she was not too immobile, steps were taken for that in order to avoid complications, but she did stay in hospital to recover for a few days. I am sure that in many cases they would like to move people out before they are ready, there is a cost to be considered both financially and in terms of safety for the patient. We didn’t want mom to suffer another heart attack or complication outside of the hospital, away from the experts.

The whole thing about medical insurance is avoidance. I don’t know about your state, but anyone poor enough(either at first or after paying medical costs) is covered (somewhat) This insures that the hospital and doctor get paid. Any time care is tweeked, it just gets more expensive for everyone.

I have been in the hospital a few times, and they have always kicked me out before I felt ready.(It must be the HMO)

At the hospital where I work, it always amuses me that the anesthesiologists are the most virulently anti-Obama. They don’t have practices to run, they just work for a group and take the patients that come in, spending maybe five minutes with each one. The ACA will probably never affect them, and they don’t want anyone else to have it. Hard to keep my mouth shut.

Elizabeth Warren is a professor at Harvard University. I am sure that most of the people who live in Massachusetts are fairly proud of Harvard University and would be impressed if someone was associated with it, as in a professor. Warren is ahead in the polls and is likely to win. It seems interesting that the other side only wishes to resort to name calling and disparaging someone’s heritage. The main character in this strip is rather devoted to getting her elected. That is part of the main story here. If I felt that I didn’t like Warren, I don’t think I would waste my time reading Doonesbury, since GT is obviously a fan of Elizabeth Warren.

Yet Scott Brown said "I’ll be the 60th “No” vote against Obama, and that was fine with you, and then he betrayed you by playing a moderate. And that truck with 200,000 miles on it that showed he was a man of the people? He bought it used to haul his daughter’s horse trailer while he wore a $600 barn coat. You got one?

Christy has doomed his political career. When he runs in 2016, his opponents will run endless ads of him speaking well of Obama and he’ll wash out before the first primary. As a lady said on public radio, "All he had to say was “Thank you”, he didn’t have to add all that other stuff."

I found Gov. Cuomo’s comments rather interesting about the link btw the storm and climate change. He seems to be very impressive in terms of the way he expresses concern about this problem. I fear that the colossal storm that just happened is just the beginning. It seemed odd that in the time leading up to the storm in NY, they had temps in the 50’s. A hurricane with temps in the 50’s? What is going on? Scientists say that the ocean temps have only increased by one degree in the last few years, but this is enough to wreak havoc.

But will the Republicans on Capitol Hill now notice the connection between global warming and more / fiercer storms (hurricanes, tornados).

    Nooooooo.

Will they now cooperate with Demos to do something to reduce and sequester the atmosphere-warming CO2 spewing from exhaust pipes, chimneys, coal-fired power plants, oil-fired power plants, etc?

    Nooooooo.

Will they now cooperate in stopping taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil?

    Nooooooo.

Subsidizing / incentivising battery-powered electric vehicles?

    Nooooooo.

    Hi-tech windmill farms?

    Nooooooo.

    Solar panels and similar devices?

    Nooooooo.

    Geothermal?

    Nooooooo.

New hi-tech wastewater treatment plants to turn potential-energy-containing waste into electricity?

    Nooooooo.
