I liked Mr. Alcaraz’s previous toon better. Here he’s just gloating. The woman vote and Latino vote made a very big difference. I hope both parties look at the closeness of recent elections and start working together.Respectfully,C.

I agree. This could have gone either way, and everyone in power ought to acknowledge it. Working together should be the mantra from the beginning, but we know how well that has worked. On the other hand, Obama will be out in 2016, so the R’s don’t need to go out of their way to try to make him fail. Doesn’t mean they won’t try. On the other hand, Obama has had ample time to find ways around obstructionist policies and stubborn opposition, and that has been lacking. I am concerned that until the rules of the game change, too many people are so used to playing the game that it is now second nature.

The bigger problem, though, is Congress. Though Mourdock and Akin can stay home and read up on human anatomy in their forced retirement, much of Congress is the same.

It is interesting to note that many people were willing to vote for Romney only because he wasn’t Obama, even though the worst approval rating for Obama was something around 40%. Congress’ approval rating was 9% (and I feel that’s generous), but a lot of those same voters voted the bums back in. They could take a chance on a president who would promise 12 million new jobs, and 5 minutes later say that the president can’t create jobs, but they wouldn’t take a chance on a different congressman. It is especially disappointing in my district, where my “I’m for term limits” congressman, who has overstayed his welcome way longer than his term limit would have been, was re-elected for doing essentially nothing but be a Republican.

I will soon be contacting him to ask him to help us save money: all he needs to do is stay home. He votes the way Boehner tells him to every vote, and any legislation he proposes, which is minimal, is inconsequential. His communications to his constituents are just a repeat of talking points. Why pay for staff, to heat his office, free postage, and all his other perks? The outcome will be the same if he’s physically present or not.

He will have 8 but Boehner and McConnell will do everything they can to continue gridlock.

Hey, I was trying to get a job offer from NCM, and he didn’t even return my call. Don’t trust him — he’s a corporation, not a person. Oh, I guess he is a person…..

You weren’t listening, were you?[]I’ve spent my entire life trying to avoid ever being on the government dole. Instead, my goal has always been to make an honest living. []And now Obama wants to have me declared a criminal for it.

…except, I was never one of the ones knocking those who had trouble finding work due to the recession.[]I myself lost a comfy office job, at which point I was forced to take my present job (after a full year of doing odd jobs) so that I could keep paying tuition.
