Sorry to break it to you, Anansi, but spiders aren’t bugs.

Well, she’s in good company. Calvin once reported on “Bats: The Big Bug Scourge of the Skies!”

I refuse to share my home with any living thing whith a natural complement of legs that is less than two or more than four. Most non-entomologists are okay with considering anything with more than four legs a “bug”. Entomologists don’t consider anything that is not part of the order Hemiptera a bug, and some are so picky that even Hemipterans are excluded unless they are part of the suborder Heteroptera.Etymologists don’t care about how many legs it has or what order it belongs to – just where the word came from.

Very amusing, Dziva. And Anansi’s joke is good, too, though (predictably) he’s being corrected by the scientific community. But, about rhyming “suppose” with “proposed”….

Oh, and spiders are TOO bugs. They aren’t insects, but they certainly do bug enough people.

Oh… insects and arachnids. I thought Dziva was inspecting software on that there old-school IBM coding pad, and was finding a whole bunch of mistakes….

What an awsome little poem Justin, even if it is about spiders, bugs, etc.. Your talents never cease to amaze me. This one definately deserves a “BRAVO” big brother ;-)

I don’t care what the official definition is. A bug is anything with more than 4 legs.

Today I learned that “bug” used to mean “goblin.”
