He is right!! The news isnt the news anymore, it is a biased mixture of what they want us to hear. They also take all the bad news and make it into a long running infomercial.

Most of our debt is owed to ourselves, not the Chinese. US savings bonds. We are the only country that considers such a thing as a debt.

Think of it this way, if you loan your sister 50 bucks, is the family itself deeper in debt? No….

Meanwhile, back on topic … the news isn’t the news any more in the sense of journalism and reporting, with stories and information that haven’t been reported elsewhere. Television news is trying to find it’s way back to relevance in the internet age of news bites and streaming feeds, so far with little success.

But your “money back – with interest” will only last five or six years.

GDP and GNP are not the same thing. GNP is GDP adjusted for transfer payments between here and abroad.

I am with you! I had to go on what is most likely, permanent disability when I was 50. I was self-employed, I paid double. Time to re-coop.

Remember the “1984” novel warning where citizens were fed by the “news” only what the gov’t wanted them to believe and then the papers were destroyed daily so as not to be able to compare? Truth is stranger than…….

Me, too Arlo… Me too.. Anyone with a microphone and a keyboard is an instant analyst looking for a soapbox to exhibit to the world their inability to express coherent thought..

Maybe Thoreau had the right idea !? That cabin in the woods, sans news media, looks better and better every year.

Credit where credit is due: during our recent brush with Tropical Storm / Hurricane Sandy, I turned to my television, not my computer, for news and updates. I thought The Weather Channel did a great job! As for the so-called major networks: meh.

Today’s strip and and the associated discussion are way too depressing for me. It will be a relief to go back to reading people’s comments about their neurotic cats.

And yes, what happened with the Christmas present? I hate it when Johnson leaves us hanging like that . . . I need not mention the fishnet stockings strip short run. . .

More true today than ever. “Newscasters” exist solely as sales people for eyeballs and clicks. Nothing more.
