Not everywhere. At my company in Connecticut, several ex-employees are suing for unpaid overtime, even though they were salaried. State law says even salaried employees get overtime, unless they are supervisors, and the Dept. of Labor says who’s a supervisor, not the company.

When we were moved to “exempt” status (salaried) our boss has mentioned a few times how she can make us work “80 hours a week” to get the project done.

First time was informative, the rest of the times are basically like threats.

    Also in Connecticut. whee :\
