Back in those days, a lot of teachers acted like demigods. I’m not saying today is better, I’m just saying it was different. Not only would you get sent to the principal, the teacher would call your mom and rat you out so you got yelled at three times in one day: by the teacher, by the principal and then by your mom. Three strikes you were o-u-t.

My dad would get whacked three times also. First by the teacher, then by my grandmother, and finally by my grandfather. My grandmother was a seamstress, and I’m told that if she was wearing her thimble, she’d rap him on the head with it. I always wanted to see that, but she would never demonstrate for me (on him, of course).

My second grade teacher hit my hands with her ruler constantly. It was humiliating. She was a witch with a capital B. But you can’t have no authority in the classroom either.

Now, many high schools send troublemakers to woodshop, where the ‘teacher’ can sit behind glass. The machines only fire up for one class a day, it sure isn’t those classes.

You’ll learn from your mistake, Charlie Brown. I’m sure most of us have been there.

There is a difference between discipline and child abuse. Only those with an agenda do not see that.

Also – I thought I remember Charlie Brown mis-spelling the word ‘BEAGLE’, not ‘MAZE’. Surely that must be another arc, or am I wrong?

I believe Charlie Brown’s troubles all stem to him having ADHD.

I think it would be a nice tribute if tomorrow, GoComics put the last original Peanuts strip on the front page. Charles Schulz died Feb. 12, 2000.
