You don’t want to be part of the wedding party….it will cost you a fortune, and there will be pictures all over the internet of you throwing up in your fancy, ugly dress outside the reception hall after you had too many toasts to the happy couple. Just about every wedding I have been to (except the last two…it hasn’t been long enough for them to get to it) has ended up in divorce. I have actually heard people discussing “how long it will last” at the receptions. Good luck Cathy and Irving! I think Guisewaite waited to get married until she was older. They are divorced.

I was Maid of Honor for my sister, the dress was actually pretty and is still hanging in my closet. They are still married, maybe it helps that they were together for years before they got married.

Happy Saturday fellow Cathy friends. The weekend goes way too fast, before we know it Monday’s back. Try to enjoy, I have school work to get back to, including a take home midterm.

Is that how the selection process for Maid of Honor works? I don’t think Best Man is that complicated!

I’ve only been Matron-Of-Honor in one wedding and that was my younger sister’s back in 1998. It was a very informal event (unlike the one I had back in 1988) and she was perfectly fine with me wearing the prettiest dress I had in my closet at the time. I’ve never angled to be in anyone’s wedding party and have never been hurt or offended if they didn’t ask me. If anything, I was relieved. Spending a bunch of extra money I didn’t have on a dress, shoes, etc., that I would (most likely) never wear again has just never appealed to me at all. I’m more content to simply show up as a guest with a nice gift and wish the happy couple well in their new life together.

I don’t take bets on the couple, I said that I have heard it talked about while attending. (I have seen drunk bridesmaids, and groomsmen, as mentioned) I like weddings! We give them cash and hope for the best, despite the odds being against them if you look at the divorce rate numbers. Once when I was asked “You going to any weddings this summer?” I replied, “No, but there are a couple of divorces I could attend.” I don’t think that they appreciated my brand of humor. ; )
