50 channels? LOL!!! Back in the day!!! (I remember our first cable box had a slide channel selecter with about 30 channels!)

Funny, we have 70 over the air television channels here in Atlanta. Admittedly a dozen are only radio stations, and another dozen are Spanish- or Korean-language stations, and another dozen are shopping channels, and another dozen are religious broadcasting….

We only had 3 channels when I was a kid. Without putting up an outdoor antenna I would have one channel without cable.

And there was always something worthwhile on one of those three channels….unlike now.

I wonder what Elly was planning to do with those cups.—Perhaps she’s sewing a new swimsuit, and reusing them? My mom used to make suits for herself and me. You could use those in a sundress, too.

Funny timing: Delta Sierra Tango = DST = Daylight Savings Time.

Usually a form is just used to “form” the shape for sewing, but in this case I believe she meant the cups themselves, the support part of the bathing suit. Otherwise she couldn’t take them out. I took it as she was altering her suit.

Re: Lynn’s Notes……Now I know why my dental bill is double what I think it should be….it’s so the dentist can buy himself aircraft to play with. Jeez! I wish she hadn’t told me that! In her strip she always makes her little family trying to make ends meet, and I’m helping to pay for their next plane!

She also said a few days ago that in the early days of Rod’s practice, he had to purchase expensive equipment for his office, and they did live hand to mouth for a while.

Rod’s dental practice, when they lived at Lynn Lake, included a lot of outlying villages who would not have had dental care unless he was able to get to them. In those northern rural areas, that means either hiring or being a bush pilot. For a bush pilot, a plane isn’t a “toy”, it is a lifeline. In her “Suddenly Silver” collection book, she talks about how he flipped the plane once when taking off after picking up some friends in an extremely remote area. After three days of being missing, they were found, all alive but extremely dehydrated and hypothermic.

Way back when, a boyfriend asked why I had such a “nice shape” in my swimsuit but not in regular clothes. The mystery was never cleared up for him, LOL.

In early days of TV, we had a choice of St. Louis or Quad Cities – and both (then) were on the same channel! Directional antenna was a must. Strange how signals would fade until a commercial came on!
