Why do I have the feeling that the ‘trial’ is going to have some very false and ludicrous evidence? They sure don’t have enough real evidence of ‘evil’ practices as it is.

So…it appears that the Jackrabbit and his ilk have counterparts in Panda and his group with the opposing viewpoint who are just as quick to sacrifice someone for their cause. Unfortunately that makes sense. Even worse, it’s usually never about the “cause” but more about empire-building.

A fight among the other underground cities could change everything. Goona have to be a big bang though. How is it that power changes to pomposity so soon after gaining the power?Blessed Be

So, what are the odds there were more than just two people in the observation room watching Holly and taking notes? And my hint a couple days ago that everyone ignored – the common thread linking Linda, Holly and Maude is… Maude. The cheese Holly likes isn’t anything that was scavenged Topside.

Hm, I would guess that most of Endtown’s citizens are pragmatic. They’re not interested in conflicts. Otherwise there would have been a lot of riots already. And I think there are enough reasonable people to realize that open fightings will be the end of Endtown. As long as the Topsiders are still a threat for life, a secession would be very unwise.

Cannibalism… Hm, wonder how that (very strange) habit I know of where particularly ‘crunchy’ parents will cook and eat the placenta of their newly born child stands? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placentophagy)

That’s always struck me as being human cannibalism if it’s properly considered. After all the law would probably take a very dim view of someone eating someone else’s appendix after an appendectomy.

Man, this must be what not having morning coffee does to my thought processes…

Folks.. Welcome to Political Agenda TimeNow showing in Endtown. Mr Allgood and his cast of characters are going to entertain you with feats of distortion and falsehoods worthy of an Oscar.Jackrabbit and Allgood are two different poles.Jackrabbit wants embracing Mutant selves, changing your name (which is what got Cooper upset) for example. Jackrabbit holds rallies, meetings, get togethers. He makes funds by donations and maybe entry fees to attend meetings.Allgood wants to ban acceptance of your mutant self. Remain human at all costs. Allgood uses the system to his and the Society ideals and manifesto. Allgood receives donations for the Society who may or may not know his full agenda. (Roxie was unaware of how far Allgood was going. Dangerous for Roxie) This Society is making a power grab and there may be members inside not aware of it but will soon find out. Loyalties will be tested. The council rotates members so he could not move until HIS Society members were in place. Now pick your subjects. Maude because of her milk abilities, Linda because her willingness to use mutant products and being an ex-topsider (which will come out as I believe she has already said that in jail), and Holly the popular one. Maude and Linda are easy to attack and discredit. Holly is the one that counts. If Allgood can discredit her and destroy her reputation. HE wins. The fundamental reason for Humanity is assisting one another to survive. Allgood does not and will not see that aspect of using mutant products to survive. He would rather see starvation and death rather than losing his view of humanity. Improvisation and adaptation has always been the human way to get through tough times. Just because Maude makes milk does not make her less human. Same with Chicken lady. All human with new different attributes which if used can save lives. This promises to be a great story line.

And this is not about Cannibalism. Its about using products produced by the mutation to survive. Milk Eggs (the Chef uses a “spicey” rat to flavor beans. You don’t eat the rat it just swims about in the beans for flavor)

How is it that power changes to pomposity so soon after gaining the power?

Because introspection and conscience, though greatly uncomfortable to one’s default narcissistic nature, can be abandoned after one has or is trying to seize control through power. You need allies when under stress and are forced to compromise, but you can abandon them when the situation gets more comfortable.

The lessons of cooperation last a lot longer with conscionable beings like Holly and Wally, who are then seen as enemies by those who want to take the quicker, less challenging path. Shoot first and ask questions later (but some don’t want the questions at all).

She supports using ones abilities and she is popular. Take her down and Allgood wins. Endtown is going to come to grips with the reality of survival. It will define their Humanity.

Cows are used for what they produce and for their flesh. So are chickens. What’s your point? Mine is that once people are looked at as a physical resource it won’t matter what they are used for. It’s all bad.

Selling their goods would imply that the producers.would be able to exert some control over what they produced. That might not be the case. If they could band together soon enough to exert/keep control over their lives…maybe they could.

I wonder if this will split End town into 2 factions, like certain groups have done to our country. The humanites VS the Mutate accepters.I can imagine that happening, which is more I can say for what has happened in real life. This panda seems to have overly lofty ideals “we will have proven ourselves unfit” He makes Jackrabbit sound less unreasonable of the 2. Sounds like The “cake crew” may be locked up a looong time.

I’m wondering about the reasoning behind the taboo against using animal products. If it’s no big deal then why the taboo? There have been many references to how sick of beans everyone is. (you may have forgotten). Someone did intend to eat Holly. (you may have forgotten that, too). My guess was there was the fear that once the first step was taken, where would it lead. In the context of the story, something is driving this taboo with all this readily accessible food being thrown away (you may have forgotten bird lady). contextual enough for you?

He has an association in place, agents inside the police, and people he can manipulate that are on the high council. We have no idea what he was like prior to mutating, but at a guess, I’d say that career politician wouldn’t be too unlikely. As for “facts and evidence getting in the way”, that’s not particularly necessary when your primary intent is to play on the emotions of the proletariat.

Unless I missed it, I don’t think any fellow readers are farmers or gardeners. I definitely don’t see evidence of familiarity of growing livestock. What I’m getting at is it takes energy to make energy. To allow others to have the milk and eggs, Maude and the chicken lady would have to eat that much more beans. Not only that, but the nutritional cost would be a negative expense. To simplify it, you would have to take the beans from two people to give an egg to one.I’m not ignoring that so far eggs and milk happen, but it’s a surplus factor in the normal diet and there would be too little amount of milk and eggs to adequately go around. And others have been right about the status of the producers. Unless a producer was in control of distribution and common treatment of the producers, they would be reduced to a status of secondary citizen at best. All it takes is looking at our own history. For the work all these women do, the last thing you want as their boss is a man.

" surfstuff55 said, about 5 hours ago @Three Steps Over Japan I’m thinking the “urban legend” will be that Top-siders eat each other. ie, “Soylent Green is people” type of cannabalism. And Allgood wants to prevent that kind of thing in Endtown. I can kinda see his point, that way."I thought we had discussed this possibility before, but TSOJ pointed out noone would want to eat contaminated meat, and risk mutation.Unless they did not know what they were eating. Flask and Linda both said all their processes were taken care of by the biosuit. But, some of us thought there must be a way to supplement reprocessed wastes after every newton of energy had been effectively removed, leaving little more than heavy metal rabbit pellets or wombat dice, requiring inputs. Linda knew more about TopSider diet than she told us or Maude, as evidenced by the gusto she went after beans. She was a receptionist before the war, but her job after the war was not exactly clear. Could she have been the receptionist for the top secret lab converting typhoid marys into a gel pack like long distance swimmers’ nutrition bags? Possibly somewhere on the suit there is a port for injecting nutrients, like the ports you see on some chemotherapy patients, or even dialysis patients.? Linda being any way aware TopSiders were consuming non TopSider flesh would have been a good reason to send her on a suicide mission. " You owe me!", when asking to say goodbye to her son? Odd phrasing unless she knew something or was a test volunteer for a new protein source.Remember to vote early and often for this strip Endtown 2.0, Jenner’s Doc Rat, and Endtown 1.0 using SurfStuff55’s links. May Level_Head’s travels be beneficial for him, and let’s remember all those people up north who may be low on woodchucks to throw on the fire to keep them warm.
