Joan: You don't want to check any bags when we fly to Paris?! Wally: They could get lost. Joan: I'm supposed to fit 10 days' worth of clothes, shoes, cosmetics and books into a tiny little carry-on bag?! Wally: Sure. Joan: Wait. That might mean I'll need to go shopping in Paris... Wally: We'll check bags.

Checking bags as opposed to doing shopping in Paris is FRANC-ly not a bad idea.;-D

Cool, Joan! :-)

That’s ACTUALLY a pretty good idea. You’d be amazed at what you realize you don’t need.

Think she will go shopping there nomatter what – so better bring as little as possible. Last time I was out I brought home a second suitcase bought just so I didn´t have to pay too much for the one (which I couldn´t close).

Why on earth is she taking books? Download something to read on the plane—or better yet, sleep so you’re ready to sightsee when you get there.

Buy the clothes there, then ship them home.

I went to Paris, ready to go shopping, yet I didn’t find anything that I really wanted to buy.

I went to England for two weeks with 12 pieces of carefully chosen mix and match clothing, plus undies, which all fit into one suitcase. I carried an empty train case for souvenires.

Books to read on the plane, at the airport, and at night when Wally crashes!

Several paperbacks won’t take up much room. Just don’t take War and Peace!

Passez un bon temps, Joan and Wally.

One year when we drove to visit our daughter, our car decided to commit suicide and we had to fly home. We packed up two boxes of our clothes, etc. and mailed them home. Much cheaper than taking them on the plane.

I’ll have to remember Joan’s idea the next time my husband complains about how much stuff I take on a trip.

It’s none of his business if she chooses to check her own suitcase. I hate these cartoons where they act like the man owns the woman and has some authority or control over her. It is sickening sexism.

Redkacie: I LOVE the feel of a book, And since I like fantasy novels and military history, a book makes it much easier to check maps! Rowena: what a sexist comment. Wally (or his company) is paying for the trip, but that doesn’t matter. I don’t see Wally “owning” Joan based on the story AND the entire comic arc. Check your prejudices at the door on this one.
