The 2nd Amendment is to protect YOU and me from the oppression of government. Today, you may not need a gun but you still need defense from the government.
How would you feel if I took away your right to a defense….lawyer?
I have numerous firearms that could “protect my home”, and NONE OF THEM look or function like the one in the ’toon. I can also take a critter, including the two-legged type, at over 1,000 yards, that you cannot do with the illustrated firearm.
As Whoopie Goldberg on “The View” knew, my pump action 870, just cranking in a round, will run off any burglar more effectively than the AR with massive magazine/clip.
I also taught a lady nine ways to take out a potential mugger last week, without a firearm, four lethal if properly done. (btw) nine years ago, she DID shoot an assailant, in the legs, and preferred what I showed her, even though she still DOES have a 32 semi-auto in her pocket.
Limiting mass-killing weapons with no sensible civilian purpose is a GOOD idea, without taking away “gun rights” to sensible, perfectly functional, AND EFFECTIVE, firearms.
The simple fact is, the “NRA types” are simply paranoid, and nuts, and the Constitution does NOT see folks defending themselves from their ELECTED government, but invaders, as PART OF THE MiliTIA, period!
