What’s absurd about this effort is Ryan uses repealing/postponing Obama Care as a fundamental basis for his budget. Of course there are no cuts to the military. Then we have the Democrats putting together a spending package with a Trillion dollars in new taxes. I’m assuming they are both doing this so they can say they assembled a budged and still get paid, even though both of them are DOA in congress.

All of these people consider reductions in spending increases as balancing budgets. This continues to boggle my mind for how they expect the country to thrive economically when government continues to grow and suck up resources from the economy.

Rachel Maddow lists the huge implications of what an Obama win means…or more precisely, what a Romney loss means in terms of what is not going to happen. There’s some pretty big stuff here and a good reminder of the tragedy that could have been. A Romney loss meant; We are not going to have a Supreme Court that will overturn Roe vs. Wade. There will be no more Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alioto’s added to this court. We are not going to repeal health reform.Nobody is going to eliminate Medicare.Nobody is going to make old people in this generation fight it out in the open market for health insurance. We are not going to give 20% tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires and expect programs like food stamps and kids health to cover the cost.We are not going to make you clear it with your boss if you want to get birth control from your health provider. We are not going to redefine rape.We are not going to amend the United States Constitution amendment to stop gay people from getting married. We are not going to double Guantanamo. We are not eliminating the Dept of Energy, the Dept of Education, the Dept of Housing at the Federal level. We are not going to spend 2 trillion dollars on the military that the military does not want.We are not scaling back on student loans because the new plan is you should borrow money from your parents. We are not vetoing the dream act.We are not self-deporting.We are not letting Detroit go bankrupt. We are not starting a trade war with China on inauguration day.We are not going to have as President, a man who once led a mob of friends to run down a scared gay kid to hold him down and forcibly cut his hair off with a pair of scissors while that kid cried and screamed for help. And there was no apology, not ever.We are not going to have a Secretary of State John Bolton. We are not going to have a foreign policy shop stocked with the architects of the Iraq war. We are not going to do it.

Unfortunately, Ryan has the GOP-in-DC disease….must be the polluted air….his “budget” allows for 10 years of government higher spending by 3.4% each and every year.NO NET CUTS. “Austerity”??? LOL

Here’s why Ryan’s Medicare plan will bankrupt America:

First, repeal of Obamacare: this re-introduces the concept of exclusion for pre-existing conditions.

Then, make Medicare so unattractive that seniors will prefer to buy private insurance, giving them government money (“free stuff”?) to help them with their premiums. What he plans to give them will not cover private insurance under the best of conditions. But here’s the kicker: how many people do you know who are over 65 who don’t have pre-existing conditions? I see them, but they’re rare.

So, suddenly premiums go sky-high, or the patient is considered uninsurable. Either way, most seniors will just drop coverage and head to the emergency room for any and every problem. Only Mitt Romney thinks e-room care is free.

When the e-room is clogged with seniors and people who have had their Medicaid taken away (whether we feel they deserve it or not, they are used to having it), health care will be exponentially more expensive.

And that’s only his plans for health care……

I am an accountant. I have lived with the most onerous set of laws known to man all my life, the IRS tax codes. I feel about our governments set of laws and regulations the same as I do the tax codes: they are a necessary evil for the conduct of a functioning, efficient society.

My issue with this is on the point of efficiency and that can be directly related to the size of our government and it’s inefficiency of operation. Governments are not a profit making institution, but they should be expected to operate as efficiently as possible and focus on not wasting the resources allocated to them. Our government has grown to such a massive size that it exists in a feeding frenzy for capital (money, assets) that should be productively utilized by the private sector. It has gotten to the point that the rationale is we can’t really shrink government or we will negatively impact the economy. So we rationalize a government that’s defense budget has more than doubled since Clinton left office. We tolerate redundancy, obsolescence, extravagant spending and outright fraud, because no congress person wants to cut waste if it affects their constituency.

I am a Libertarian and my basic premise is that we have oppressive levels of regulation, prohibition and inefficiencies in our government that are hampering healthy economic activity. Our military spending alone is absurd. We function on the premise that we have to be the worlds policeman for democracy. Easy solution for that, if others want our military in their country, pony up the money to pay for it. I won’t even get started on the absurdity of the Patriot Act, drones and the loss of our individual freedoms as a rationale for “national security.”

As a start we could unleash an army of auditors in the government with the commitment to act on their findings. We could do well to actively work in partnership with business to realistically focus our educational system to the needs of today’s society. Wouldn’t it be a novel concept if government functioned on the same type of budget we have to live on, IOW, living within your means and cutting back spending where needed or practical?

The “Ryan budget” is simple: The only purpose of government is to build bigger castles, raise bigger armies, tax the poor to support their lords and masters. Societies have tried the same before, it was called “feudalism”.
