Personally, I love the Metro . . . I get a lot of knitting done during my commute. But yes, this comic refers to a local issue: in Silver Spring, the much-vaunted Silver Spring Metro Complex was supposed to unite several transportation modes and reinvigorate local commerce. Unfortunately, the parking/station area has been fraught with delays (almost 10 yrs?) and plagued by construction failings (cracking and unsafe) and today Metro says they may not accept delivery of the structure.

The last few years has been one nightmare after another for The Metro. It’s being very poorly run.

I’d still rather take the Metro than drive on 95 or the Beltway.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Omnius: Public transportation must be publicly controlled, not left to be a private corporation using taxpayers’ funds. It is a lot like the 2.5 amendment, they yell like crazy when anyone tries the “well-regulated” part.

The Metro should be a source of national pride. Instead, tourists from many many countries are exposed to junk their homelands do not tolerate. Our politicians should be required to use the Metro once a week, every week. Then there would be improvement. What, you say? The Elected Ones forced to live like the people? Such socialist mongering…
