Val: SOMEBODY GET THE PHONE!
RING RING RING RING
Holly: It's Aunt Joan!
Val: Calling from Paris??
Holly: No. Peroria.
Val: ?
Val: Ha, ha, very funny.
Holly: She's not laughing, Mom.
Joan: SOB!
It is said the best test of a person’s character is how they handle getting lost, and untangling a string of Christmas lights. Joan’s character is not doing well.
We went on a cruise to Alaska with my mother-in-law. She threw a blood clot in her intestines after leaving Skagway. Wife and her life-flighted from Juneau. I had all their bags when I caught a flight. Spent 4 weeks in Seattle with m-i-l in Harborview. Luckily, her sister lived in Seattle, we got a rental car, and were able to see some things once she stabilized.
This happened to my parents years ago when they were leaving without us 3 kids for a European vacation. Fortunately they were able to get out a day or two later.
As I said before, I’d be happy to be alone with my man ANYWHERE! Sightseeing during the day is nice in order to relax, but there are things to do and see around anywhere you find yourself. He drives up to Wisconsin often because one daughter lives there and it is an easy day trip. Last summer we visited Dells, the Circus Museum, and a casino on weekends. Some walking in the day is good to enjoy the night even more. In Chicagoland we were around Navy Pier, Botanical Garden etc – plenty to do. If he comes here it’s balloon rides, Taliesan West, Art museum and much more. Depending on time of year we have many special events too.
I hope this turns into a blissful, quiet vacation for Joan and Wally… lazing around a B&B, reading and napping, eating ice cream… just getting completely rejuvenated and ready to come back home after some much deserved down-time!
Yes we got to Pike’s Place. From one of the nurses, we also learned of a way to tell your way around downtown Seattle. The street names are in pairs of two letters, JCMSUP. She said it stands for Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest!

While Joan does need to relax, go with the flow and enjoy her vacation no matter where it is, she’s going to have a breakdown in 3, 2, 1…

I think the joke is that Val thinks it’s an April Fool prank.
