Whatever one’s personal feelings and interpretations, I think you USA folks have to consider separation of church and state in this issue. You really cannot use religious texts as justification for your legislative position on this matter. You are however welcome to use religious texts to decide your own personal position.(I am really not trying to be inflammatory, just pointing out your own framework. One of the things I really admire about the USA.)

Not even close to being true. Not for health care proxy, not for inheritance, not for adoption just to name a few.and in case you’re trying to take us back to the last century and beyond the law of the land is separate but equal is neither separate nor equal.so your comment fails on all fronts.

“God says it’’s yucky” is about the only reason (and a pretty lame one) for opposition to gay marriage. Leviticus prohibits male homosexual actions (it says nothing about lesbians) but only as a means of distinguishing the Israelites from their non-Jewish neighbors in matters of intimate relations. I have no idea where so-called Christians get off with their anti-gay harangues; the behavioral (and food) laws of Leviticus don’t apply to them.

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution says that all citizens have equal rights under the law. “My god thinks it’s yucky” is not an allowed exception.

If homosexuals do not have the same rights as other people, that is a problem with the government’s corrupt laws. If the issue is really whether homosexuality is a sin, God has already settled that question. The Holy Bible is clear. God established marriage between a man and a woman. The word “marriage” has already been defined. There is nothing that homosexuals can do to change the fact that it is a sin. Even if the whole world agreed with the homosexuals, they would still be cursed by a God-given conscience that would tell them it is wrong.

If homosexuals want some kind of union, don’t try and call it marriage. Also, if homosexuals were really in favor of equality, they would have to give up special privileges they already have.

^you’re correct about some of what you say. and not about others. My bible says that king Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. but it doesn’t say homosexuality is a sin. my bible says that homosexuality is a ‘abomination’.big deal, you may say, but when it comes to the bible, I like to be precise, since it’s infallible. what’s the difference between an abomination and a sin? well, wearning mixed fabrics is considered an abomination. So while the word sounds pretty bad, it’s no worse than wearing wool pants and cotton socks. or a poly-cotton mix (though that might be a fashion faux pax).and finally let me ask you a question. what are the ’special privileges you claim homosexuals already have?

“The SCOTUS will rule this is up to each individual State ti decide.”So what happens when a married gay couple tours the country, Tigger? Do they become unmarried in this state, then married again in that state, then unmarried again…?

Try reading the comment you are posting about again slowly. Here’s the part I mean: " Leviticus prohibits male homosexual actions (it says nothing about lesbians)"

The whole marriage verses civil union discussion is just a smoke screen. The “Church” did not create marriage. There was marriage long before there was any of the modern extant churches. If you want to believe that God declared Adam and Eve man and wife you can, but you can’t insist that I believe it. If you want to know who has the right to say who has the right to be married, look at your marriage license. It is issued by the state that you live in not your church. The United States Federal Government has the authority to remind the states that they have to treat their citizens with equal justice. By the way “up to the states” isn’t justified either; there is not “states right” to discriminate.

Don’t worry about “The Left”, Onguard. First, we’re still procreating. Second, as long as we have colleges and universities providing excellent educations, we’ll have liberals.Meanwhile, it seems you’ve missed all the news stories about how the Republicans are trying to frantically adjust their marketing and propaganda in a last-ditch attempt to save their party?
