Gunther has always had “romantic” down. What is confusing Knute is that he lacks “sleazy.” Some guys really do get the difference.

Knute’s “romantic moves” include being as annoying as he can figure out how. Lucky for him he found a girl who likes that.

Gunther, much like Brad, has a history of being a sucker for bad advice from his best friend.

I think that people also get a certain idea fixed in their mind about a person, so no matter what you may do to try to “prove” otherwise, people will still think what they do…. especially if you are not known for being “loud in the crowd” or boisterous or overt in your ways…-That being said, the seed might be planted for Gunth to try to pull the BIGGEST one off, yet….

The word “romance” is frequently misunderstood. At least the primary definition of it is. From Merriam-Webster:

1 a (1) : a medieval tale based on legend, chivalric love and adventure, or the supernatural (2) : a prose narrative treating imaginary characters involved in events remote in time or place and usually heroic, adventurous, or mysterious (3) : a love story especially in the form of a novelb : a class of such literature

2 : something (as an extravagant story or account) that lacks basis in fact

Forgot to add that it’s the age old “Lover’s Lane” type of romance vs. the “tried and true” emotional style that Gunth seemed to have down pat…. If Gunth listens to Knute.spout out not just the ol’ “Lover’s Lane” tactic but the KNUTE version…. Wow….. there WILL be consequences….

You have to give Knute credit…he understood Gunther enough to know he wasn’t the type to settle for treating a girl in a tasteless manner..aka handing a girl a roll of toilet paper when it’s inappropriate for a guy to even be in the girl’s restroom. That action would besmirch the girl’s reputation forever in that school.

The fact that Gunther gave Rosa flowers when he asked her to the prom may make him look exceedingly old- fashion but will earn him respect in the eyes of the girl’s parents.

Since these teens still have another year or two of school to finish yet, it’s preferable that their passions don’t get too heated up at this point in time. Too many things could go wrong and result in the girl not finishing school or getting into college at a later date. It’s best Gunther proceed just as slowly as he is now doing.

Gunther is highly romantic. But he is not cheap, like Knute. Knute should stick to skate-boarding and stay away from normal people, and from Crystal, too….

Actually I would like to see the Gunther/Rosa thing get better and better – more than the Luann/Quill thing. Luann is still half brat although we all love her. Rosa seems like a big girl and one that is ready to take on life.

Rather than relying on unreliable Knute for dance steps, Gunther should do those Karate moves he tried when Leslie Knox was stalking him. Those looked pretty entertaining, and Rosa looks like the type that appreciates a good laugh:)

" If you want advice on how to treat a girl, ask a girl."^Naaah….too easy…lol! But seriously, I agree, and you’re right…it’s the most respectful and insightful thing to do…it’s so sad that many bad experiences happen when either the boy or girl assumes that such things are wanted or expected…

I want prom night to be absolutely stellar for Gunth. He totally deserves it. Both Gunther and Rosa do. But I have a concern.

I just hope that it’s not the night where Rosa reveals her future plans to Gunther (i.e. she’s leaving for an Ivy League School or to Europe and he can’t follow here there). If it’s the “Ivy League” option, then maybe he can scarf up all the needed financial aid. Of course I don’t have to worry about him “getting in.” He has MIT all over his face.

If it’s “Europe,” then that’s a different story. Bottom line, I think Gunther and Rosa deserve each other.

Go over to DJ ‘Sunbeam’ Mixmaster and tell him to cue up an old one from Johnny Rivers: Slow Dancing (Swaying to the Music). Tell him beat matching is not necessary, just play it. Then, Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.”^

Great choices! And I’ll do you one better… “Reminiscing” by Little River Band… it’s also short, and seems to fit Gunth to a tee!—On our anniversary, I’ve played one of those three (we try each year to do one of those, or another short, slow dance song), and my wife and I dance to it alone, in the living room….

I read an article somewhere about what they called “promposals.” Sometimes they were very elaborate and creative. Often they were as outrageously expensive as everything else associated with prom. I found the imaginative ones more appealing than the spendy ones.

" If you want advice on how to treat a girl, ask a girl."Only if the girl you are asking knows the one you are asking about pretty well. Girls don’t all want the same thing, but often assume that their own opinions and desires are universal.

the Knute method: treat the gal as nothing more than a form of ‘relief’. The Gunther method: treat the gal as a LADY. it is respectful, considerate, proper.guys, what form do you think young gals would prefer to be treated. this includes your sisters, mom, aunts, etc….would you like your sister(s) to be treated with the Knute method?now remember that your lady has male relatives. who would prefer you treat their female relatives with respect.

“Wolves are pack animals, a wolf alone is a wolf that is dead critter walking.”^K…. You DO realize that it’s not always LITERAL? A wolf who wears High Kroddy (karate) is not a wolf, but a man with a zoot suit (or leisure suit), and fuzzy dice and leopard print car seat upholstery?-And yes, wolves are pack animals. but you tell the rogue wolf who’s been “aced” out of his pack that he’s not supposed to roam alone…. go on… I dare you… Lol! (again, a joke…)

" If I had to go through all that in my day, I doubt I would have ever gone to the prom."^Like you and Sara, I also heard about these “promposals”… when I was going to school, the aim was to GET a date… the asking was the risk, and the reward was for both to be excited about the whole prospect…. the Gunther method was definitely the time honored standard, as well…-Then, all of a sudden, it became a status… where the girls competed for who could have the most proposals… or just having the poor guy to go through the most elaborate one… and that turned into a "non-guarantee’ of acceptance! What was supposed to be romantic has turned into a perfunctory thing and what used to be girls wanting to be treated like princesses/queens, has now become the girls (thankfully, not all) feeling entitled to be divas/queens…

And add “Cruisin” by Smokey and the Eric Clapton/Bonnie Raitt version (or was it someone else with E.C.?) and “Moonlight Feels Right” by Starbuck and “Crazy Love” by Poco….-Yeah, in addition to the “Wedding Playlist” for Brad and Toni, Now, there would be the “Slow Show” playlist…. I don’t think we all could handle the amount of good gravy from the “grooveyard”… no, better not open up THAT one…. the “fun” police/comment police might not like it, anyway…

I think maybe the car is shaking because it’s moving towards Make-Out Point.

As for Gunther, he doesn’t need any “moves” with Rosa: She’s already sold and far better for/to him than Luann (who has only used him on an “until-someone-better-comes-along” basis). Gunther has turned a losing ticket for a lottery prize.

Yeah, you’re right. I took (yet) another look and saw the line in front of the car’s bumper. If the car’s moving forward, that line ain’t there.
